Why are we green?
Living & working in a heavily populated metropolitan area has opened our eyes to the impact human beings have on the planet. There are many, many ways an individual can be more eco-conscious, yet when Staccato launched in 2008, earth-friendly wedding invitations were very hard to find! The largest companies may have a few pages of their wedding books dedicated to recycled papers, but the papers are what everyone thinks of when they see "recycled": ugly, grayish, and boring. We're green because there is a need for beautifully styled eco-friendly invitations. And we're green because we know that if more of us demand it, paper mills and other suppliers will make it!
How are we green?
All the papers on our site are recycled with 30-100% Post Consumer Waste. The details about each paper and their eco-conscious production methods can be found by clicking the "?" next to the paper options in the Signature and Simply Affordable collections, or in the description section of all other products.
But offering earth-friendly products is only part of our green story. Staccato is a home-based business meaning we have not expanded our physical footprint to serve our customers. In our home office we utilize Energy Star rated appliances and equipment, eco-friendly detergents and cleaning supplies, and CFC light bulbs. We recycle >50% of our business and personal waste after re-purposing what we can. We re-use packaging and shipping materials when possible, and purchase only recycled new boxes and labels. While our products may be green, getting them to you contributes pollutants to our environment, so in 2010 we began to offset our shipping-related carbon through the purchase of carbon credits.
But we're not done yet...While when we started this venture, "green" vendors and supplies were hard to find, the good news is that our mission gets a little easier every day. We are constantly testing new papers and the designs and color options in the Signature collection evolve as better-for-the-earth supplies are introduced to the market. Seeking out new stationery designers with an eye on the
environment is also a main priority. We want to offer you a fresh, unique, eco-conscious
selection every time you visit.
